The Mercedes CL of the C215 generation is technically based on the S-Class W220. The luxury coupé was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1999 and was built and sold until 2006. Unlike the W220, the CL is quite rare on the roads, with less than 48,000 examples built. However, the CL63 offered here with the 6.3 litre naturally aspirated V12 engine (M137 E63) is particularly rare. It is difficult to find an exact number of units, as the 63 does not even appear in the official production statistics. However, most sources report not even 30(!) units worldwide.
With its 444 hp and a maximum torque of 620 Nm, the twelve-cylinder engine from AMG provides decent propulsion with pleasantly smooth engine running and is therefore ideal for long motorway journeys, even at high speeds. The ABC (Active Body Control) suspension ensures optimum compensation for any unevenness in the road surface and offers perfect comfort.
With just over 50,000 kilometres on the clock, our example is in a condition close to that of a year-old car and was imported from Japan some time ago. In recent years, the current owner has invested around €19,000 in the luxury coupé (invoices available). Among other things, the ignition coils on both cylinder banks, the electronic accelerator pedal unit, injection valves, water pump and much more have been replaced. As with many Japanese imports, a retrofitted infotainment system has been installed. However, the original unit is included with the vehicle.
In addition, the factory V-Max cut-off at 250 km/h has been cancelled, making travelins speeds of more than 300 km/h possible.
The CL63 is a real rarity and is therefore rarely found on the market. A perfect addition to any Mercedes or AMG collection and a rare opportunity to own one of the rarest vehicles from the factory tuner in Affalterbach.
