This exhibit is a Jaguar E-Type, which was re-bodyworked in the complex complete restoration to the aerodynamic “Low Drag” form. The bodywork was done in aluminum, so we have a real lightweight here. An E-Type Series 2 Coupe with a short wheelbase was used as the basis. The interior was completely processed in wonderful black leather. The 4.2 E Type engine from Jaguar was installed with an output of 269 hp, with a maximum torque of 384 nm at 4000 rpm. The front window is made of glass, the rear window and the removable door window are made of plexiglass. The vehicle is street legal in Germany and is an approved classic vehicle.

In 1962/63 Jaguar constructed a very small edition of a special racing version of the E-Type, the Lightweight. The technology was improved and the monocoque made of aluminum. The lightweight was used in numerous endurance races, including the Le Mans 24-hour race.

The model delivered by Jaguar to Peter Lindner in 1963, with chassis number S850662, occupies a special position. Due to the increased compression, the engine had an output of 344 hp. Lindner drove numerous sports car races with it.

To make the vehicle even better, Lindner had it revised by Jaguar in the winter of 1963. Numerous improvements were made, such as a quick-change gearbox and a redesigned hardtop – the now famous streamlined hatchback designed by Jaguar stylist Malcolm Sayer. The revised lightweight was often referred to by the British motor press as the “Low-Drag-E-Type”, alluding to its reduced air resistance, and it achieved cult status.

Unfortunately, the original Low Drag was completely destroyed in a racing accident.

But today the legend lives on – with this incredibly unique restoration! A vehicle that attracts everyone’s attention and offers a unique driving experience.
